I met Sarah at a yoga retreat about a year and a half ago. She was in charge of the delicious food for the weekend. Since then we have become good friends. She's such an inspiration and I’m always amazed by what she is up to! She started her own nutrition business (WhyFoodWorks), makes beautiful pottery in her free time and she is one of the biggest supporters of my blog. After countless cups of coffee and inspirational chats over the course of a year, I finally launched Simply Gifted.
A little back story about Sarah’s pottery obsession: She decided to try a 10-week pottery class about four years ago and hasn't stopped since. After she completed the 10-week course, she decided to do another course. She was absolutely hooked and Stoneware by Sarah was born! She creates beautiful ceramic wares. My personal favorites are her glass-bottomed dishes, candlestick holders and salt-and-pepper shakers.
Sarah graciously gave me a set of two ceramic candlestick holders (the two in the photos!) to feature. I was trying to decide who I would gift these to but ultimately decided they would make a great first giveaway! One lucky reader will win these beauties. Comment your favorite thing about December on the blog post and I will collect names from Instagram and the blog, then pull a name at random to declare the winner Friday, Dec. 4! (Hint: These would make a great housewarming gift for the holidays!)
She will also be offering 15% off anything from Stoneware by Sarah for a limited time to Simply Gifted readers with the code: SIMPLYGIFTEDCO.
Here's a quick Q&A with Sarah:
Do you gift your own pottery?
When I first started, I thought, perfect! I will never have to buy a wedding gift again! Certain pieces angle toward that sort of occasion, like the glass-bottom sets. Take broken pieces of glass from a wine bottle, place in the bottom of a ring holder, spoon rest, etc. and let the kiln do the rest!
What is your favorite thing to make?
My favorite thing to make are bowls. They are so heavy and expensive to ship, I try to gift those in person!
Do you take custom orders?
Yes! Unfortunately, no more before the holiday season but please contact me if you have an idea you want to discuss. It takes 4-6 weeks from order date to delivery.
